501(c)(3) status approved!!!

Dear P.S. 139 families,

Wonderful news!  The 501(c)(3) application for the Parent Association of P.S. 139 was recently approved by the IRS.  Many of you may have already read about the application having been submitted for approval over the summer with help from the law firm Paul Hastings, as well as the opportunities that the 501(c)(3) status can offer (see article in the Rugby Road Reporter newsletter or September 2 post on the web site).  Now that 501(c)(3) status has been approved, the P.A. is able to pursue grants and other opportunities that have the potential to significantly increase fundraising support to the school.

If you’d like to help, please consider the following:

– making a tax-deductible donation to the Parent Association of P.S. 139 this calendar year.  If you make a donation, please also check with your employer to find out if the firm or business has an employee matching contribution program;

– if you have writing or research skills to assist with grant research and proposals, please contact Susanna Stein, VP of External Fundraising for the P.A. at ssteinnyc@yahoo.com

Please also remember that no contribution is too large or too small and that your ongoing support to the P.A. serves as the heart of our fundraising efforts for the school.  Therefore, please continue to lend your volunteer and financial support to the school through our book fairs, Picture Day purchases, and special events.  The Executive Board of the Parent Association of P.S. 139 wishes to thank you for all that you do for the school, and we look forward to working with you in helping to make 2015-2016 a terrific year for our kids!
