Getting involved at P.S. 139 as a Parent Association Member

Here’s a list of ways you can get involved with and support your Parent Association at P.S.139:

1. Come to our monthly meetings! Bring your questions, ideas, or concerns.

2. Visit our website and, on the home page, subscribe to our e-mail list for website updates and the PA weekly email updates.

3. Follow us on Facebook. This group is private and joining this group does NOT automatically make you Facebook friends with the other members of the group.  Follow us on our Facebook page: PS 139 Alexine Fenty School, Brooklyn or follow this URL to join:

4. Donate to the Parent Association, either by leaving a donation with your information in the PA box in the Main Office, or via PayPal (there’s a “donate” button on the school website).

5. Get involved in what we do!  Become a member of an existing committee (Garden, Events, Community Engagement and more) or create a new one. We’d love to hear from you!

6. Or, help out on as needed basis by joining our volunteer list.  You’ll get an email when the PA is in need of support.  It could be to work an event, bake something, or hand out flyers.  Help out when it’s convenient for you! Start by emailing our PA Executive Board at

Setting our sights:

If you have an idea of an initiative you’d like the PA to take on, bring it to a meeting, or share it with the PA president, or someone else on the board. The PA membership will decide together what we’d like our priorities to be for the year, and your ideas matter!

Become a Class or Grade Parent/Caregiver

Each classroom needs a class parent/caregiver! Class parents/caregivers facilitate communication between the teacher and parents/caregivers, volunteer as needed in the class, and help on class trips when available.  Or join forces with other parents in your grade as grade parents/caregivers, and help the Parent Association get news out regarding events and other activities.  To volunteer, contact your child’s teacher.  Please also introduce yourself at an upcoming PA meeting.  The more class or grade parents/caregivers at P.S. 139, the merrier!
